Dragon Isle

Kaine's Recap, Part 1

Before I met these guys, Celestra and I got captured by these dragon worshipers. They looked like elves but their skin was all black and stuff. After I broke us out, I helped Vyth Levethix and the others kill them. Vyth says they worshiped She Who Cannot Be Named, the Burninator. Except “the Burninator isn’t her name, but that’s what we call her so we don’t say it. She’s the leader of the dragons, which are real, but they’re not all evil, and I guess she just leads the evil ones. This guy Bahamut is the god of good dragons. I like him except that he says I don’t really love women, which is not true. Oh yeah, so after I saved these guys, we decided not to steal the dragon’s treasure and we went outside and found a baby winged horse named Humfry. These guys killed his parents, we adopted him. I want to be clear that I didn’t kill Humfry’s parents.I don’t think Vyth would do something like that, it was probably Nessy. I guess I’ve probably killed people or things that had kids, and if I knew about it I would adopt the kids, cause I like kids and that’s why I’m going to start the Orphanarium. I have a bunch of kids and the ones I know about I take care of. We met this other girl named Thea who I guess used to be dead but I never saw her dead. I think everyone else knew that she used to be dead, except Celestra cuase she was with me. Now she’s not though and I hope she’s not dead, but she got eated by a tree and after that she disappeared from her bed again so I don’t know. Hmmm, maybe it was a Nightmare? On the way back to the city we helped some people, but Vyth wouldn’t take any money except one coin each, and he didn’t even keep his. I kept mine but I’m not going to spend it, cuase it got me thinking about what do I need money for? It’s only good for giving to my kids or saving for retirement and I’m going to take all my money and start an Orhanarium. When the Orhanarium is finished then I’ll use the coin that Vyth gave me, but not before. I lost all my money when we got robbed in the dark by winged things but not that coin cause I kepted it safe. Anyway back in town we had to find these some people and one was a dragon killer which is a dumb job when there are no dragons around and kind of a dumb job even then there are cause it’s dangerous but it pays well. So we looked in the sewer and I gave some kids some corned beef. We looked for some other people and we found this temple where I met the Winds, which are kind of like gods and they’re kind of different in different places, but I think they’re the same somehow. My friends were looking for mages or priests and I think I know the difference now but I didn’t then. We fought some dragons and they attacked the city cause I don’t think the king really wanted a dragon egg. So now he’s mad at the dragonslayer and sick. That’s the king. There’s a queen to but she’s in a place called Tiger-nal which is a city but not THE city.

I’m going to stop now because it hurts to remember and talk so much, but not as bad as when I had that sword the winds gave me.

Welcome to Dry River Bridge

By the grace of Bahamut we seem to be on track again. We seemed to travel directionless for several days before Amelie admitted she could not find the way to our destination. We then just happened to come across a village, Dry River Bridge, where our path once again found purpose. In this village we came across an old acquaintance of ours, Norn, who it seems knows something of plane travel that may aid us in our quest. Then to balance the aid given us a just deed was placed before us to fulfill. Apparently a near by village of elves was set upon by some unknown evil, which the villagers suspect to be a dragon, in part because of the re-appearance of some place called the drake pit.

An orc named Jonathan guided us to the elven village which was worse than the villagers had described. the stench of death was everywhere, and the water tainted with its evil. All of which seemed to emanate from a gallows set up in the square. A gallows meant for one Lavashkish Tenar we were soon to discover, and unused at that. when standing upon the gallows there were five distinct paths of destruction emanating out, a pattern Norn was able to determine came from on point of origin. which leaves one culprit capable of such a feat, Tiamut. Although she is imprisoned alongside the great lord Bahamut. This does not bode well. We set the hearth just outside the elven village and headed towards the drake pit.

Into The Drake Pit

On the way to The Drake Pit our party came across a body being pickled in the swamp. Whilst inspecting the body Xellos appeared out of nowhere, as per usual, only this time he was traveling with a companion. i greenish skinned elf named Samson. They both seemed eager to to join in out foray into the drake pit to kill what i know assumed to be a black dragon. I also called forth a mist shortly after this time to give us cover should we need to flee the cavern in the event we were unprepared fro what we may be facing.

Within the cavern we found an underground pool with a hoard piled in the middle on a small island. After some well placed taunts the dragon finally surfaced from beneath the water surface and attacked. We quickly had him on the run and he began evading our attacks far more than attempting his own. it was however curious as he kept making strange remarks about how this was his hoard he found it, and that we shouldn’t keep bothering him. at least something to this effect. its hard to remember during the confusion of battle. then when i was sure we had him beat all light was removed from the cavern and the dragon slinked back into the icy waters and from what Xellos says escaped through its watery entrance. it now seems we must wait till this darkness subsides so that we can find our way out and hunt down our foe.

Kaine and the Drake Pit

It’s dark now, so I have time to think. Jonathan told us which was to go but he didn’t come with us ‘cuase he’s a coward. We went down into a swamp, a real swamp with real water, and we found a dead guy in the water. We were going to bury him but we couldn’t ‘cause all the real water in the real swamp kept filling in the hole. So Vyth said to leave him and we’d be back so I sat him up next to a tree. Then we went into a hole that Vyth said was a Drake Pit, but not the guy named Drake, I think he’s a cat person. Well his mother is, but I don’t know about his father, but I don’t think his father is an orc like my father. And I don’t think his father is a dragon either, and that what drake means I guess. It means dragon.

Oh and Xellos and some other guy showed up.

Anyway, we went into the cave and there was treasure and I started to pick it up and Vyth told me to hurry up and then a black dragon came out. Norn fell in th water and we got hit by dragon-breath and I would have tried to get him out but he got out OK first. The dragon was really dumb and didn’t talk, just roared at us a bunch. I think Vyth roared back at it. It seemed scared and flew around instead of coming down to fight.I threw my javilins and then someone (Thea?) put a hand on me and told me to just walk up there and hit it, so I did. The dragon didn’t like that, and then everything got dark. I walked into a storm (it was cold, I should have had my sweater on). Now it’s dark and Xellos said the dragon left.

Thea looks around

ick, this place is gross. Where am I? (Thea absentmindedly fingers the scale pattern tracing the outer lines of her arms from smallest fingers to earlobes, silver jingles with the uncertain wavering of her tendrils) This place is not a good place… I don’t like it here. I can’t even remember how to heal properly.. This plane makes me feel like a shadow, and I don’t even feel like I could grow my wings here. At least the scales are pretty, yes pretty. Ouuuu, treasure? (examines things in [[:norn | Norn]]’s lap) But you broke it! You aren’t supposed to break treasure. But the pieces are sort of shiny.. . . . . Well, that was distracting. I wonder what all the talk about elephants was about? I think I remember elephants. It seems so far away.. even that part of me is distant here.

*bristle Reds! (hiss) Oh No! Vyth Levethix!! That Sampson character is rather unsavory – all arguments and dragging off Vyth just when I might be able help him, or mourn him at least. How I got back by his side, I’m not sure, but by the grace of Bahamut it happened. [[:xellos | Xellos]] must have some seriously powerful magic – raising the dead? I know he was dead.. he had to have been. I felt it. But, he is better now. I guess? I still feel the need for one more heal for good measure. Oh dear, everyone else is in some serious trouble too.. Norn keeps blinking around, but she managed to stay tangled up in those tendrils, and Sampson – nearly got himself scorched to death. I guess I should keep my eye on him too, next time. Kaine did well though, he is so strong! Walking right up there and bashing in those Reds faces. I’d like to do more walking on air and bashing in red dragon faces, if everyone else could stay alive long enough… I really need to start paying more attention. Oh, and this guy – I thought Vyth was the last of his kind? I am definitely feeling the dragonsblood. But he seems to be a good man, I wonder what this dragon rider was chasing him for? I suppose we are meddling in some pretty serious stuff here. Fabric of reality and releasing old gods into the world and all that. But Bahamut will guide us, he lights the way and the winds will carry us. Now we just need to follow the line from the crystal, I knew Vyth would be able to feel it. Hopefully there aren’t too many more of those Red riders hunting our new friend, although I guess I should embrace the joy of getting to put down a few (dozen =) ) more of Her minions.
